It Could Storm

A pantoum is a rhyming poetic style that uses repeated lines. I tried it. I thought it turned out pretty well. :o)

It could storm tonight
I say softly, with dread.
The porch is filled with light
As clouds form overhead.

I say softly, with dread,
She just won't understand.
As clouds form overhead,
You softly touch my hand.

She just won't understand.
She never has before.
You softly touch my hand
As I reach for the door.

She never has before,
I say regretfully,
As I reach for the door.
Mom will say I'm silly.

I say regretfully,
She is probably right.
Mom will say I'm silly
For letting go tonight.

She is probably right
And we should not break up.
But letting go tonight
Proves that I am grown up.

We should not break up.
But I have to do this.
It proves I am grown up.
Love is not hit or miss.

And I have to do this.
You have said you agree.
Love is not hit or miss.
There's more for you and me.

You have said you agree.
A mutual consent.
There's more for you and me.
We don't need to repent.

I smile at you again.
The porch is filled with light.
I am glad you're my friend.
It could storm tonight.
